When it rains, any water that falls on roads, parking lots, and other
impervious surfaces travels rapidly into storm sewers. This water often picks up and transports surface pollutants into our waterways. The best way to reduce this pollution is to slow down the stormwater so it can be absorbed by vegetation. This can be accomplished through use of green infrastructure such as rain gardens, rain barrels, porous pavement, or green roofs.
Mike Guyon from the Town of Brighton, and Todd Stevenson from the Monroe County Stormwater Coalition will present information on recent stormwater regulations and actions taking place in Brighton to implement green infrastructure along Monroe Avenue and in the Buckland Creek watershed.
